Due to the suppressive effects of steroids, NeoPredef® Powder is not indicated for fresh lacerations or wounds. It works best when applied after a full bed of granulation tissue has formed over the wound defect (i.e. during the granulation phase of wound healing).

NeoPredef® Powder has historically been one of our favorite products, especially for use in cases of excessive granulation (proud flesh). It is for topical use as treatment or adjunctive therapy for wounds in horses.
NeoPredef® Powder contains 3 primary ingredients:
1. Neomycin sulfate (antibiotic). This component inhibits surface bacteria and associated infection.
2. Isofluprednone acetate (steroid). Steroids effectively suppress excessive granulation (i.e. proud flesh development), which is a common sequelae of wound healing in the horse.
3. Tetracaine hydrochloride (anesthetic). Tetracaine quickly alleviates both irritation (itching) and pain associated with wounds.
Together these ingredients function to alleviate discomfort, discourage surface infection, suppress inflammation and inhibit excessive granulation. Moreover, NeoPredef® Powder hastens wound drying, epithelialization and contraction.
Unlike caustic agents/ powders, NeoPredef® Powder does not amplify the inflammatory response of associated tissues. Consequently, less fibrotic (scar) tissue is generated and better functional and cosmetic results are realized.
NeoPredef® Powder is applied directly to the surface of granulation tissue.
To apply NeoPredef® Powder, simply turn the container partially upside down so that the product gravitates towards the top. With a squeeze of the bottle, a "stream"of powder is ejected in the desired direction. The powder quickly "sticks" to the moist surface of exposed granulation tissue, creating a "frosting" of the wound. No further treatment (such as additional topical therapy, bandaging, etc.) is typically necessary.
NeoPredef® Powder is packaged in a squeezable plastic bottle, which contains 15 grams of product.
