*The above recommendations for the Influenza vaccine are for the intramuscular (IM) preparations only. If the intranasal product is utilized, it should be administered at 6-month intervals beginning at or after 6 months of age. The vaccine is labeled for use in horses 11 months or older but has been shown to be safe in younger foals.
**Protection against infection with the strangles bacteria is recommended only for farms where this disease is endemic. The above chart refers to the IM preparation only. The intranasal product is currently labeled for use in horses 9 months or older. However, on higher-risk farms it may be necessary to administer doses at 6-9 months of age, one month later, and then at 6- to12-month intervals. |
